As part of the Los Angeles International Airport modernization plan, a 3-year contract was signed in 2019 between Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) and EASIER for the installation and maintenance of Skylanes biometric gates.
EASIER in partnership with IDEMIA (the global leader in digital identity solutions), has successfully deployed the first phase of Skylanes in the new West Gates at Tom Bradley International Terminal (TBIT) inaugurated in May of 2021. Equipped with facial recognition systems, the Skylanes support have enabled the mandate of U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) to biometrical screen departing passenger, and enhance air passenger security.
Moreover, faced with the health crisis, EASIER has adapted its technology to accommodate the facial recognition process for passengers wearing masks.
Based on the successful Phase 1 of the project and the know-how and expertise demonstrated by EASIER and its partners, Los Angeles World Airports has renewed its confidence in EASIER for the deployment of the second phase of this innovative project.
LAX – the US largest O&D airport – boasts the largest number of biometric boarding gates in the United States and the largest number of airlines using 1-step technology – the ability to board with a smile without having to show a boarding pass or passport.
The success of the implementation results from a great cooperation project between EASIER, LAWA, CBP and the airlines. The technology is touchless, intuitive, and offer a much improved customer experience while enhancing security.
