Under the European directive coming into force in May 2022, the member states of the Schengen area will have to equip themselves with a biometric Entry/Exit System (EES) to register non-European citizens passing through their territory. IDEMIA, leader in biometric security solutions, in collaboration with EASIER has recently been selected by the Danish Police to provide border management solutions at all air, land and sea border crossing points.

According to the directive passed by the European Union, Schengen countries will deploy pre-registration EES kiosks to allow non-Schengen visitors to quickly and securely provide the requested information including the registration of their biometric data (fingerprints and face).

To this end, EASIER with IDEMIA will deploy 91 self-service Entry/Exit System kiosks and 16 Automatic Border Control (ABC) gates at the main air, land and sea crossing points.

Equipped with a biometric system, EASIER’s EES kiosks allow identification using facial recognition and fingerprints, thus facilitating immigration pre-screening and passenger record at borders.

The ABC gates will read and authenticate travel documents, verify passenger identity, detect fraud, confirm passenger eligibility and authorize entry and exit.

Call for tenders are also ongoing in other European Union countries to meet the same mandate.

EASIER is delighted to further our partnership with IDEMIA, which has enabled us to win this second tender for the Schengen Entry/Exit System following Iceland’s award in 2021.

Our ambition is to guarantee the scalability of the program thanks to our advanced solutions combining maximum security and efficiency of the passenger experience.
